Let's talk about the years of Sala Parés.

This is the street par excellence for antique dealers, art galleries, collectors... and among them all, one stands out: Sala Parés. A good thermometer of solidarity between artists and of the art market in general. In 1901, an already consolidated Ramon Casas offered a section of an exhibition space that he had allocated to the young Picasso, who exhibited 4 paintings there - and didn't sell any. Also here, in 1912, Lola Anglada exhibited for the first time. She was an essential name in children's literature and illustration in the first half of the 20th century - and she was the first woman to receive the Creu de Sant Jordi, the maximum recognition from the Catalan government.

This one is the oldest of the art galleries which are currently open in the city. And it is one of the city's emblematic shops that in the 1990s was recognized in the City Council's Guapos per sempre ("beautiful forever") program. Looking near the door you will find 3 dates: when the Parés business with art was first recorded, when the gallery business opened here and when it was recognized. Take a good look at it, apply logic if necessary and sort it out...
